I walk down the stairs into my basement, breathing in the cool, moist air that I have become used to. On my way to the far right corner, I pull the chain on an exposed incandescent light hanging above my head, exposing my exercise equipment. The stainless steel bar resting on the grey metal rack may seem out of place opposite the couch and television. But the setup is familiar to me, countless hours of mine have been spent here. After adding the appropriate amount of weight I place my hands on the bar and position myself underneath it, resting it on my shoulders behind my neck. I stand up with my legs slightly bent, allowing the weight to transfer. Dropping my body so that my hips are below my knees I strain to push myself back into standing position.
